(Sports Network) - The Milwaukee Brewers followed a Hollywood script to pick up a series win on Thursday. Jets LaDainian Tomlinson Jersey . Theyll try to keep that momentum going this evening when they host the Texas Rangers for the first time in almost 13 years with tonights opener of a three-game set at Miller Park. Thursdays rubber match with the Chicago Cubs needed extra innings before the Brewers emerged with a 5-4 victory thanks to a rare walk-off sacrifice bunt. Carlos Gomez began the frame by drawing a pinch-hit walk and then took off for second when the following batter, Craig Counsell, laid down a bunt. As third baseman Chad Tracy charged down the line to throw out Counsell, Gomez continued to third. The throw by Chicagos Xavier Nady to third was wild and Gomez was able to trot home with the winning run, capping a chain of events that 15-year veteran Counsell had only before seen on the big screen. I saw it in the movie Major League, he said afterwards, referring to the 1989 film starring Tom Berenger, Charlie Sheen and Wesley Snipes. Corey Hart added his National League-leading 16th homer in the victory, the Brewers third in four games. Milwaukee now plays host to Texas for the first time since 1997, when it took four of its six home meetings with the Rangers in its final season as an American League team. The clubs didnt meet again until 2007 in Texas, with the Rangers winning two of three. Chris Narveson will face the Rangers for the first time in his career this evening for the Brewers. After losing his previous two starts, Narveson did not factor into the decision of his teams extra-inning loss to the Cardinals on Saturday. The left-hander yielded four runs on five hits and a season-high five walks over six innings and has yielded at least four runs in four of his last five starts. Narveson, 28, is 4-3 with a 5.83 earned run average in 17 appearances this year, including eight starts, and is 0-2 with a 6.98 ERA at Miller Park this season. The Rangers will look for Rich Harden to start piling up some innings tonight when he squares off versus the Brewers. Harden hasnt lasted longer than 5 1/3 innings in any of his last six starts, though his setback to the Rays on Sunday was his first since April 18. The right-hander needed 111 pitches to get through his five-inning outing and gave up four runs -- three earned -- on four hits and three walks in having a three-decision win streak end. Hes better than he was earlier, said Rangers manager Ron Washington. He still has to figure out a way to get us deeper into ball games. Harden fell to 3-2 with a 5.34 ERA this season and he has struggled away from home, going 2-1 with a 6.67 ERA in six road starts. The 28-year-old, though, has been solid in two career starts at Miller Park, going 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA. In five career starts versus the Brewers, he is 1-2 with a 4.70 ERA. Harden could be in for a plethora of offensive support tonight based on the Rangers most recent series. After losing the opener of a four-game set versus Seattle on Monday, Texas went on to outscore the Mariners 31-6 in winning the final three meetings. The Rangers capped that burst with a 12-3 victory on Thursday. Josh Hamilton and Michael Young both homered, while six hitter Justin Smoak added a pair of RBI and Julio Borbon went 3-for-3 out of the ninth hole to run his hitting streak to eight games (.483, 14-for-29). Texas won five of seven on its completed homestand and plays its next nine on the road, with visits to Florida and Houston also on tap. The Rangers also own a 1 1/2-game edge over the second-place Angels in the AL West. This homestand the bottom of our order has been huge, Young said. This series showed what were capable of doing when we get contributions one through nine. Both clubs lost two of three in interleague play back in late May. The Rangers are 113-120 all-time versus the NL, while the Brewers are 85-102 in interleague play. Premier Bears Jersey . Skating on the power play after a tripping call to Brent Burns, Mike Ribeiro sent a pass from the right circle to the high slot for Robidas, who didnt get everything on the one-timer but got enough to get it past Jose Theodore for the win. Premier Green Bay Packers Jersey . "I want to say this the right way. That issue is not a new issue for us in our league over the last 25 years," Stern said Friday before watching the 76ers play the Orlando Magic in Game 3 of their first-round series. Pittsburgh Steelers Sanders Jersey .500 when they continue a three-game set with the Kansas City Royals at Comerica Park. Detroit won its fourth straight game on Monday, as Will Rhymes two-run homer in the sixth put the Tigers ahead and Alex Avila blasted a solo shot in the eighth for insurance in a 7-5 victory. Authentic Clay Matthews Jersey . -- Skate Canada revealed its final six Olympians following the conclusion of the 2010 Canadian Figure Skating Championships in London, Ont. Authentic Andy Dalton Jersey . Merrill picked up 55 ground balls this season and led all defensive players with 12 points and nine assists. Earlier this week, Merrill won his fifth straight defensive player of the year award. Raiders Richard Seymour Jersey . With Barcelona on 71 points after its 2-0 win against Osasuna on Wednesday, Madrid needed a win to go top on goal difference and it delivered a stunning first-half performance. Packers Collins Jersey . Inter, the three-time defending champion, won 3-1 at Torino with an own-goal created by Amantino Mancini and scores from Maicon and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Hines Ward Jerseys Womens . Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli confirmed on Friday that the 21-year old left winger has a high-ankle sprain, and is expected to miss up to four weeks.Hes played for a Grey Cup winner, received four league all-star nods and twice been named the CFLs top lineman. But on Saturday, 15-year veteran offensive lineman Gene Makowsky can register a career first. The Saskatchewan Roughriders host the Calgary Stampeders at Mosaic Stadium to decide first place in the West Division. The game can be seen live on TSN and TSN HD at 7pm et/4pm pt. The Riders havent finished atop the conference standings since 1976, a 33-year drought, and the contest is being billed as one of the biggest regular-season games to be played in Regina. "All home games against western opponents are big, but theres a lot more on the line for this one," said the six-foot-three, 290-pound Makowsky, a Saskatoon native. "Its not an elimination game, but its one that we want to win because we want to get that bye and be one step closer to a Grey Cup." Saskatchewan (9-7-1) would move into a first-place tie with Calgary (10-6-1) with a victory but finish ahead based on winning the season series. Whats more, top spot would also earn the Riders the right to host the conference final Nov. 22. Makowsky says hes trying to keep even on an even keel. But linebacker Rey Williams cant hold back his excitement. "We have a great opportunity to do something that hasnt been done here for a long time," he said. "It gets no bigger than this when you come to a regular-season game. "Theyre playing for the same thing we are. Theres not a lot separating the two of us. We have an advantage because were at home but other than that it will be a battle of two very good football teams and to the winner gets a week off and first place." The Stampeders defeated Saskatchewan in last years West Division final before downing Montreal to capture the Grey Cup. But Calgary head coach/GM John Hufnagel isnt putting any stock in that. "Once the whistle blows, its a different game, a different year," he said. "We have to go out and prove were the same calibre team this year as we were last year." But the Stampeders will have more to battle than just the Roughriders. Mosaic Stadium is expected to be rocking with some 30,000 rabid Saskatchewan football fans firmly behind their team. To prepare for that, the Stampeders practised Thursday with crowd noise blaring over the loudspeaker above McMahon Stadium. "Were dealing with the toughest place to play in this entire league against one of the better teams in this league," said Stampeders quarterback Henry Burris, a former Rider. "I would compare Mosaic Stadium to an 80,000-seat stadium back in the U.S. "The fans, whether their team is down or up, are constantly getting after you. For us to be out here, being agitateed by this noise, itll be relieving to actually hear some voices. Pittsburgh Steelers Polamalu Jersey. This is what football is all about. You live for big games like this." Added kicker Sandro DeAngelis: "It is pretty annoying in practice. It can be intimidating when you let it be. When you practise something so much, it becomes second nature. "With Brett (holder Brett Ralph), for example, when we have a cadence for a field goal, people are screaming and Randy (long snapper Randy Chevrier) cant hear and neither can the rest of the offensive line. Its important to get those reps. For the offence, I cant tell you how important it is for them. As annoying as it is, its a necessary evil." Roughriders head coach Ken Miller acknowledged the importance of the home crowd for his team. "They are an important factor and yes, our team feeds off of them," he said. "Hopefully that 13th man will provide us with the push we need to win this game and finish first." Last week, the Stampeders showed they can succeed in a hostile environment. They mounted a late march at noisy B.C. Place before DeAngeliss 27-yard field goal on the games final play secured Calgary a 28-26 victory. That win, coupled with Saskatchewans 24-6 road loss to Hamilton, gave the Stamps their two-point lead over the Riders heading into Saturdays game. "B.C. wasnt the prettiest game, but we made enough plays and put enough points on the board to get the job done," Burris said. "We were opportunistic out there. "When we were needed as an offence, we showed up. I hope that bears well for this week because well need to be out there for a full 60 minutes. As weve seen with Saskatchewan, they play a full 60 minutes and were going to need to play that way and stay on the field, especially in the last three minutes of each half." Both teams have very potent offences. The Stamps are second in CFL scoring (29.4 points per game) while Saskatchewan is third (28.5 points). Calgarys unit features CFL rushing leader Joffrey Reynolds (1,397 yards, 6.4-yard average per carry), while Burris (523 yards rushing, 10 TDs) also has the mobility to make plays with his legs. Burris is also third overall in passing 4,610 yards and 22 touchdowns while Saskatchewans Darian Durant is fourth with 4,052 yards and 22 TDs as well. But Reynolds figures the Riders will be looking to stop him. "Im pretty sure theyre going to be coming out looking for the run," he said. "Fortunately enough for us, we have (receivers) Henry, Jeremaine Copeland, Nik Lewis. I dont know why people forget about Romby Bryant. He put up four catches for 120 yards last week. "Just looking forward to seeing everybody do well and having a well-rounded game." ' ' '
