Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Red-hot Andre Ethier went 2-for-5 with a solo homer in the 10th inning, as the Los Angeles Dodgers snuck past the Florida Marlins, 5-4, to avoid a three-game sweep. The last Dodger to hit safely in 24 straight games was Paul Lo Duca, who had a 25-game streak from May 17-June 18, 2003. Ethier and James Loney singled to put men on the corners with two outs. Barajas then cleared the bases with a blast over the wall in left. The Dodgers tacked on a run in the seventh to make it a 4-4 game. Aaron Miles singled, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, advanced to third on Ryan Webbs balk and crossed the plate on pinch-hitter Uribes double to left. Florida had a great chance to win the game in the ninth, putting runners on second and third with one out. But Guerrier struck out Scott Cousins and got John Buck to ground out. (Sports Network) - The Boston Red Sox were able to fight another day for a possible playoff spot and will continue a four-game road series tonight against the Chicago White Sox from U.S. Cellular Field. Boston is 5 1/2 games behind the New York Yankees for a wild card berth with six to play and recorded a 6-1 win over the White Sox in Mondays series opener. David Ortiz hit a two-run double in the first inning for the Red Sox, who have won four of five games and will host the Yankees at Fenway Park this coming weekend. Adrian Beltre had four hits and two RBI, while Victor Martinez knocked in a pair of runs and scored twice in the win. Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz pushed his record to 17-7 with eight innings of one-run ball and Scott Atchison shut the door with a scoreless ninth inning. I felt pretty good, Buchholz told the clubs site. In the bullpen, I felt like the velocity was going to be pretty good for the night.
